Jonathan Graduate students from the Business School Business School and the Law Schoolvisited the offices of Hanson Bridgett, one of San Francisco’s oldest and most prestigious law firms. Awaiting our arrival was Jonathan Storper, a partner at the firm. Mr. Storper provided insights regarding the key factors investors should consider before putting their money into a business. In this example you will learn, among other things, the difference between patents, trademarks and copyrights.

Bryant TongNth Power is a unique Venture Capital firm specializing in providing funding for new alternative energy technologies. In this presentation, Bryant sheds light on why VC firms are actively investing in this rapidly growing sector. A recent article from the Wall Street Journal shows that that the rising price for oil is not only pushing the market capitalization of the oil-and-gas sector upwards, but it is also increasing the cost-effectiveness of alternative energy technologies. Bryant’s discussion also highlights practical examples from its Portfolio Companies. We were amazed to find out that some of Nth Power’s investors are OPEC members!

Chuck SmithListen to one of the most inspiring speeches ever delivered at the USF MBA Alumni Society Luncheon Series. Chuck Smith is the CEO of the West division of AT&T, one of America’s largest corporations (#39 in Fortune 500) and he is also a member of the USF Board of Trustees. His talk spanned the future of the telecom industry, business ethics, and his vision for the future of our University. There was also a big surprise during the speech when he announced his retirement from AT&T for the first time in public!
