#15 De Novo Ventures - VC
This is an interview with Joe Mandato - Managing Director with the venture capital firm De Novo Ventures. Prior to becoming a VC, Joe had several roles as a CEO and he was the first board member of Invisalign, the company that invented the invisible braces. Our talk focused on his experience as a VC and on some of the successful companies that DeNovo has funded. We also discussed briefly the USF International Business Plan Competition and how he got involved with our MBA Program.

It’s interesting that during this interview Joe touched on the fact that the bubble sooner or later would burst again.
Well, today the stock market had the worst day since the 9/11 terrorist attacks!
So is Joe’s prediction right?

Hi Carolin, sorry for taking ages to reply. I agree that 6,000 Euro is quite expensive but here in the US almost everybody has insurance or enough money to pay that amount. And yes, you can invest on Align Technology which owns Invisalign. You can find more info here http://investor.aligntech.com/index.cfm . Thanks, Tiago
about how bad do your teeth need to be to be declined for invisalign.
Hi Nicole, I cannot give you an official answer but from what I know, for you to use Invisalign your teeth can only be a bit crooked. If they are in a worst condition then you’ll have to use the regular metal braces. Thanks, Tiago
