The Center for the Pacific Rim invited Alejandro Toledo, former President of Peru to come back to USF where he earned his Economics degree more than 40 years ago. During the five years of his presidency, from 2001 to 2006, the Peruvian economy grew at an average of 6 percent, one of the fastest growing economies in The Americas. President Toledo’s talk focused on the benefits of economic growth and his true belief, that eradicating poverty is the only solution to sustain the future of democracy in Latin America.
